Giant Jesus Statue Was Struck By Lightning

A giant Jesus statue was struck by lightning at 11:15 p.m. and burned to the ground late Monday night in Monroe, Ohio. The King of Kings statue stood next to the Solid Rock Church on Union Road just off Interstate 75, and served as an iconic symbol for travelers along that route.
The 62 foot tall statue was erected in 2004 and spanned 42 feet between its outstretched arms. The massive $250,000 structure, intended as a beacon of hope and salvation, definitely got the attention of passing motorists, who dubbed it ‘Touchdown Jesus’.
The church parking lot became an impromptu stopping off point for passersby who felt compelled to capture a Kodak moment. The congregation even funded a special walkway to accommodate the daily crowds.
Word quickly spread throughout Monroe and many of the 4,000 church parishioners gathered to observe the eerie carnage of their Jesus being destroyed in a towering inferno of flames. One member said, “This is not right. This cannot be a coincidence.”

The Karate Kid" Chops Up Box Office Competition

Proving to be the big hit of the weekend, "The Karate Kid" winded up claiming the top slot in the box office in dominating fashion.

After pulling in $18 million on Friday, the Jaden Smith/Jackie Chan starring action film remake is estimated to have garnered $56 million in all over its opening three days in theaters.


Coming in second place was "The A-Team," which made a little bit less than anticipated with $27 million in ticket sales.

Rounding out the weekend's top grossing flicks were "Shrek Forever After" at $16 million and Russell Brand's "Get Him to the Greek" with $10 million in its second week.

Pairing up once again, Kim Kardashian and Justin Bieber splashed around in the sea at The Cove Resort at Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas on Sunday (June 13).

Hip-hop artist Kid Cudi was arrested after going on a drunken tantrum in a young woman's Chelsea apartment early Friday, sources said.

The 26-year-old rapper - whose real name is Scott Mescudi - yanked the woman's door off the hinges and smashed her cell phone against a wall about 4:15a.m., police said.

It was not clear what sparked the fit of rage, but sources said Mescudi appeared intoxicated. Cops also found a glassine envelope of an unknown substance in his front pocket, sources said.

Bam Margera Hospitalized After Being Beaten By Woman With Bat!

“Jackass” star Bam Margera has been hospitalized after he was attacked by a woman with a bat outside of his club in Pennsylvania. Read more on Bam’s condition following the incident below.

Bam Margera was involved in an altercation when there was a fight at around 2 a.m. outside of his bar in West Chester, PA. After the fight ended, a woman reportedly hit Bam in the back of the head with a baseball bat.

The woman was arrested and charged with assault.

Margera was taken to the Chester County Hospital. There are no reports as to his condition.

Meanwhile, the Mets have apologized to box seat owner Jerry Seinfeld - who was tied to the story after Mets staffers moved GaGa to his seats.

The organization told, “We deeply regret that Jerry Seinfeld has been associated with this matter and have apologized to him. The use of Jerry Seinfeld’s suite was unauthorized and unknown to him at the time. Shannon Price has filed legal documents to try and gain control of Gary Coleman’s estate, insisting that she was his common-law wife.

Price says she wants to take care of things such as the “disposition of the body”.

Shannon says she was Gary’s common-law wife because they shared a home in Utah, had joint bank accounts, and filed joint tax returns.

The legal documents filed by Price stated: “Shannon and the decedent (Coleman) continued to have a romantic relationship and engage in romantic and sexual relations.”

Price, who divorced Gary in 2008, is also challenging the executor’s (Dion Mial’s) orders to keep her from her marital home claiming that she was awarded the home in “a sealed decree of divorce”.

Price, 24, has provided a document from 2007, that was allegedly handwritten by Gary declaring Shannon as the “sole heir of any and all monies, properties, bank accounts, earnings, model trains, vehicles, cars, toys, games, electronics, homes, other inheritances if any, all things physical and/or intellectual.”
