Lindsay Lohan and Sam Ronson: Chilling at the Beach

For the second day in a row, Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson took to the beaches of Mexico sporting their itty-bitty bikinis on Tuesday afternoon (September 30).

According to a source on the scene, the “Mean Girls” starlet and her DJ mate enjoyed a dip in the warm waters and skimmed a few stones before laying down to work on their tans.

After relaxing on the lounge chairs for awhile, the oh-so-happy duo then opted to cool down with popsicles as they laughed amongst one another.

Meanwhile, as previously reported by Gossip Girls, Lindsay’s said to be making a last-minute change to the artwork on her new album (due out November 4th) as a loving gesture to her sweetie.

A source told press, “The artwork was finalized before Lindsay had gone public with the relationship, so she concealed the tribute. Now it will name Samantha directly.”

According to sources on-hand, Brit was there to check out the Tony Award-winning musical “In The Heights” - to which she showed up accompanied with her usual security team.

Janet Jackson Released From the Hospital

As previously reported by the Gossip Girls, Janet Jackson was rushed to the hospital last night after she fell ill during her sound check at a venue in Montreal, Canada.

And earlier today, Rebecca Burns, a spokesperson for the hospital, told press, “Yesterday evening she was checked into the Royal Victoria Hospital and left a couple of hours later.”

A source close to Jackson’s boyfriend Jermaine Dupri told press that Jane was most likely suffering from exhaustion. “A 42-year-old body can’t handle what a 22-year-old body can. I can tell you that she’s definitely tired. It was probably exhaustion. She is doing back-to-back, three-hour shows, and her body isn’t the same as it used to be.”

The source also commented that Dupri was out partying in NYC last night, hence Jackson’s condition couldn’t have been too dismal. “If [Janet’s condition] was more serious he would’ve rushed to her side.”

Obama Gives Shout-Out to Hip-Hop Community

Senator Barack Obama sat down in an exclusive interview with MTV personality Sway, after his first historical presidential debate with Republican John Mccain to express how he feels about the hip-hop community that has rallied around him.

Hip-hop indeed loves Obama. And everyone from Lil' Wayne to Young Jeezy, and Jay-Z to Kanye have saluted him in their lyrics, and he's inspired a slew of mixtapes, bootleg t-shirts, and on-stage shout-outs.

The presidential hopeful also admits to having songs from Jay-Z and Kanye West on his iPod, and famously brushed the dirt off his shoulder at an April campaign stop, referencing one of Jay's biggest hits.

When asked how he feels about the genre that has shown him so much support, Obama told MTV: "I enjoy it, but these days I don't have the time to listen to it all the time."

"I'm a little older than hip-hop culture," he added. "I was there at the beginning, but I was already getting older. What I've appreciated, watching this hip-hop generation, is to see how entrepreneurial they've been. In the past, musicians oftentimes were commodities. They were just shuffled around. Obviously, they did well, but they didn't have the vision to say, 'I'm going to build a business. I'm going to build my own studio. I'm going to create my own production operations.' I think they're a lot more sophisticated than in the past, and that is a wonderful thing."

Obama went on to tell MTV that he's still seeing growth in the genre and that he's optimistic about what's ahead for hip-hop.

"What I'm starting to see is them stretching out more and thinking about social responsibility and how they can impact the culture in a positive way," he said. "And I hope that continues."

Lindsay Lohan and Sam Ronson: Mexico Beach Lovin’

Now that they’ve come clean about their lesbian love, Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson seem even more brazen than ever about showing the world that they’re an item.

And yesterday, the “Mean Girls” gal and her deejay girlfriend were spotted soaking up some rays on a Mexican beach as part of their south-of-the-border vacation.

Both ladies donned two-piece bikinis and laid out on beach chairs, while taking intermittent breaks to cool off in the water.

As for LiLo’s new album (slated for a November 4th release), it sounds like she’s making a last-minute change to the artwork as a loving gesture to her sweetie.

A source told press, “The artwork was finalized before Lindsay had gone public with the relationship, so she concealed the tribute. Now it will name Samantha directly.”

Gwen Stefani Puts Family First

With their expanding family, it seems that Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale are in the market for some new furniture. And yesterday they took their son Kingston along on a furniture shopping spree.

The “Don’t Speak” babe and her “Little Things” rocker hubby looked to be enjoying their time at the Modern Living store on Robertson Boulevard, with Kingston playing a game of hide and seek with his nanny.

After a long day of shopping, Gwen and Gavin sent their son home and enjoyed a romantic dinner for two out at Woo Rae Oak Korean restaurant in Beverly Hills.

And Stefani looked beautiful in a black and silver silk scoopneck dress while her hubby rocked a t-shirt and jeans.

Paris Hilton Preps for “BFF” Premiere

Taking full advantage of the beautiful southern California weather, Paris Hilton was spotted out and about on Robertson Boulevard yesterday (September 29) making some purchases.

The “Simple Life” hottie stopped into Kitson boutique for some new duds, emerging with several shopping bags full of fantastic finds.

As for her new reality show “Paris Hilton’s My New BFF” it sounds like we have a lot to look forward to when it premieres on MTV tonight, September 30th at 10pm EST.

Paris told press, “The person who won is now my best friend. We hang out. Yeah, we’re really friends. We’ve been having barbecues and hanging out at the house. The winner and I have been pretty low-key so far, because it is top secret right now.”

On one episode, Miss Hilton reportedly treats the girls to a trip to Las Vegas. “They (the contestants) were so excited. We went on a private jet to Las Vegas and they had never been on a private plane. It was nice to really show them things they maybe never could do in their life. They were really appreciative and so sweet.”

Nick Jonas:New Wheels

It’s no secret that the rich and famous love fancy cars. And yesterday (September 29), Nick Jonas was spotted behind the wheel of a classic beauty.

The “Burnin’ Up” stud enjoyed a leisurely ride around Los Angeles in a classic Ford Mustang Cobra, joined by his bodyguard Big Rob.

As always, Nick looked pinup perfect in a white v-neck t-shirt with khaki trousers, white Converse All-Stars, and, of course, his left-hand purity ring.

The Jonas Brothers have just announced a couple of new concert dates, including a November 15th show at the San Diego Sports Arena, and a November 19th gig at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Janet Jackson: Rushed to the Hospital

She was all set to rock Montreal over the weekend, but instead of giving a concert, Janet Jackson was suddenly rushed to a nearby hospital.

According to reports, the “Let’s Wait Awhile” songstress “got suddenly ill” during her soundcheck and it was determined that she needed medical care, hence the show was cancelled.

A bummer for concertgoers, the show’s cancellation was announced to the audience just five minutes before LL Cool J’s opening set.

As for Jackson’s current health, her rep revealed that she’s being monitored at the hospital, with no other details revealed.

Sean Kingston $500,000 Chain Stolen in Mail

Reggae star Sean Kingston's $500,000 chain was stolen from the mail, after the teen rapper had his sister FedEx a diamond encrusted link chain with a crayon box medallion, from Los Angeles to a jeweler in New York.

The authorities were alerted about the missing bling when the shipped package arrived at the jeweler's shop empty, according to TMZ.com.

Kingston's sister reportedly only insured the extravagant parcel for just $500.

The incident is currently under police investigation in Los Angeles.

The pop icon is best known for his Summer 2007 hit "Beautiful Girls".

Obama Leads in Polls After First Presidential Debate

A pair of one-night polls gave Barack Obama a clear edge over John McCain in their first presidential debate.

Fifty-one percent said Obama, the Democrat, did a better job in Friday night's faceoff while 38 percent preferred the Republican McCain, according to a CNN-Opinion Research Corp. survey of adults, reports the Associated Press.

Obama was widely considered more intelligent, likable and in touch with peoples' problems, and by modest margins was seen as the stronger leader and more sincere. Most said it was McCain who spent more time attacking his opponent.

About six in 10 said each did a better job than expected. Seven in 10 said each seemed capable of being president.

In a CBS News poll of people not committed to a candidate, 39 percent said Obama won the debate, 24 percent said McCain and 37 percent called it a tie. Twice as many said Obama understands their needs than said so about McCain.

Seventy-eight percent said McCain is prepared to be president, about the same proportion of uncommitted voters as said so before the debate. Sixty percent said Obama is ready - a lower score than McCain, but a solid 16-percentage-point improvement from before the debate.

In another Obama advantage in the CBS poll, far more said their image of him had improved as a result of the debate than said it had worsened. More also said their view of McCain had gotten better rather than worse, but by a modest margin.

The CNN poll involved telephone interviews with 524 adults who watched the debate and had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.5 percentage points. The CBS survey involved online interviews with 483 uncommitted voters who saw the debate and had an error margin of plus or minus 4 points. It was conducted by Knowledge Networks, which initially selected the respondents by telephone.

Polls conducted on one night can be less reliable than surveys conducted over several nights because they only include the views of people available that particular evening.

Both polls were conducted Friday night.

Travis Barker: Early Release from the Hospital

In the days following his tragic plane crash, Travis Barker has tried to stay upbeat, with plenty of love and encouragement from his family, friends, and ex-wife Shanna Moakler.

And it seems that his positive attitude has gone a long way in his recovery from the burns and injuries he has sustained. In fact, he’s already out of the hospital!

Spokesperson Beth Frits told press, “Travis Barker was discharged from the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital this morning. He left in good condition.”

Barker’s buddy/fellow crash victim Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein was released this past Friday, and has already updated his Facebook page, which reads, “Adam Goldstein is the luckiest guy alive.”

Joined by her boyfriend, Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy, the “I Kissed a Girl” songstress happily posed for the paparazzi, sporting a white strapless flowery knee-length dress with lavender heels.

And it sounds like Katy Perry enthusiasts will have a chance to own a piece of the up-and-coming popstar - she’s announced the production of a limited edition doll.

According to a report, only 500 dolls will be made, retailing at $49.99, and they’re sure to go quick. Capital Music Group’s Senior VP Bob Semanovich told press, “It makes good sense for Katy who is a blossoming global pop culture superstar. It’s a perfect extension of her brand as she’s music, fashion and everything pop culture.”

Lindsay Lohan and Sam Ronson: Ready to Travel

Getting ready to fly out of Los Angeles again, Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson were spotted leaving their Hollywood Hills home, bound for LAX.

On their way to the airport, Lilo and Sam stopped into a gas station convenience store to stock up on cigarettes as well as some snacks for the plane ride.

As for the ongoing drama with her father Michael Lohan, the “Mean Girls” actress is reportedly looking into taking out a restraining order against him. She recently told press that her dad should be “on medication” to stop him from continually publicly shaming her.

An inside source told press, “Lindsay is going to take out an order of protection against Michael. He is behaving so erratically that she’s terrified he’ll do something to her. She’s contacted her lawyer to arrange this. Ali already has an order of protection against him, as does Dina. No one is speaking with him until he gets help.”

Miley Cyrus: Bicycle Babe

There’s nothing like a leisurely Sunday afternoon bicycle ride to make you feel like a kid again. And earlier today (September 28), Miley Cyrus was spotted riding around Toluca Lake, California with her family in tow.

In the new “Hottest 25 Under 25” poll by Moviefone, Cyrus was named as one of the up-and-coming Hollywood stars bound for massive fame in the next ten years.

And she was in good company - other names on the list included Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Zac Efron, Ellen Page, Scarlett Johansson (who just got married to Ryan Reynolds over the weekend), and Keira Knightley.

The “My New BFF” reality starlet and her talk show host pal happily posed side-by-side while meeting up at the Apple restaurant in West Hollywood on Friday (September 26).

As previously reported by Gossip Girls, Miss Hilton then headed over to local gay bar, the Abbey, to screen her new movie “Repo! The Genetic Opera”.

Paul Newman Loses Fight with Lung Cancer

To be missed by the many whom he inspired, Hollywood legend Paul Newman has lost his battle with lung cancer at the age of 83.

According to Paul’s spokesman, Marni Tomljanovic, the Oscar winning actor passed away on Friday (September 26) at his home in Westport, Connecticut.

Press reports tell that Newman had been given only weeks to live after completing chemotherapy treatment at a New York hospital this past month.

Newman, who was also strongly involved with charity and business ventures, is best known for his role in 1967’s Cool Hand Luke, and for starring opposite his close friend Robert Redford in 1969’s Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and 1973’s The Sting.

Throughout his glorious career, Paul was nominated for 10 Oscars over 50 years, winning the Best Actor prize for his role in The Color of Money in 1986. He also won two Golden Globe Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award, a Cannes Film Festival Award and an Emmy award.

In 2007, Newman announced his retirement from show business, saying “You start to lose your memory, you start to lose your confidence, you start to lose your invention. So I think that’s pretty much a closed book for me.”

He leaves behind his wife, actress Joanne Woodward, and their three daughters, Elinor, Melissa and Claire - along with two daughters, Susan and Stephanie, from his first marriage to Jackie Witte.

Kendra Wilkinson’s Miami Party Night

We’re used to seeing her cavorting around the Playboy Mansion, but last night Kendra Wilkinson was spotted in Miami, looking her usual stunning self.

The “Girls Next Door” babe attended the re-opening of Karu and Y night club, sporting a sexy, snug-fitting blue dress with black studded strappy heels as she mingled with a crowd including Girls Gone Wild founder Joe Francis.

And in a recent interview, Kendra revealed that as she transitions into her next season of life, she has something a little more conventional in mind.

“I want something I’ve never had. I do want to have kids. I do want to get married. I do want to have that whole, you know, American dream.”

Gwen Stefani Takes Kingston to the Fair

Proving that it’s possible to be a platinum-selling recording artist, award-winning fashion designer, and doting mother all at once, Gwen Stefani was spotted spending some quality time with her son Kingston yesterday.

The “Hella Good” songstress spent the afternoon with her 2-year-old at the Italian Feast/Fair of San Gennaro on North Highland Avenue in Hollywood.

And the mommy/son duo looked to be having a marvelous time, as Kingston enjoyed the rides while Gwen snapped up plenty of pictures for the family photo album.

In related news, Stefani was recently named the top celebrity fashion designer by InTouch magazine. And considering her competition, that’s no small feat. The top five are (in order) Gwen Stefani, Justin Timberlake, Paris Hilton, Victoria Beckham, and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.

Paris Hilton’s Private Screening of “Repo”

It’s not the most obvious choice for a film screening locale, but last night Paris Hilton took her new movie “Repo! The Genetic Opera” to the masses at the Abbey, a gay bar in West Hollywood that also happened to be playing host to Lance Bass’s birthday party.

Joined by her boyfriend Benji Madden, who sported a black DCMA t-shirt and black jeans, Miss Hilton looked sultry in a black corset-style top, black leather jacket, and skin-tight vinyl pants.

According to Paris, her relationship with Madden is stronger than ever. She told press, “We’re really happy. We just had our seven month anniversary. I’m really in love and excited to be in a great relationship.”

As for her new show “Paris Hilton’s My New BFF,” she said that while the winner will attain BFF status, there’s no replacing her original BFF Nicole Richie. “Nicole is more than a best friend. She’s like a sister since we’ve been best friends since we were two… She hasn’t seen the show, but she’s looking forward to it.”

Jermaine Dupri: Travis Barker to Leave Hospital in About Two Weeks

After last Friday's devastating plane crash that killed four people and critically injured DJ AM and Travis Barker, Jermaine Dupri says his friend Barker is doing well.

"He's doing good, he's gonna be alright. He's just got a lot of healing to do," Dupri, who visited the former Blink 182 drummer in the hospital last Sunday, told PEOPLE exclusively Thursday night.

Dupri, who was celebrating his 36th birthday at Chicago's The Underground Nightclub after attending a concert by girlfriend Janet Jackson, said that Barker is also doing well emotionally.

"He's supposed to send a message out to everybody in a couple of days to let everybody know that he's feeling better," he said. "He's definitely feeling the love from everyone."

Customized Room
Barker's improved spirits could be due to his newly outfitted hospital room: "He's just now getting everything in the hospital set up for him – iPods, computers, everything that he needs," says Dupri, who estimates Barker will be in the hospital another two weeks. "You got to make sure he is comfortable."

The music producer – and Barker's partner in the So So Def clothing line – said news of the crash put him in a state of shock. "I was at home, somebody called me early in the morning," he recalled. "It was kind of crazy and I didn't really comprehend what had happened."

Yet he says he has no doubt his friend will fully recover. "I think everything will be cool when I get back there [to see him]. He'll probably be up and talking crazy and all that – back to his old self."

Britney Spears Steps Out in Studio City

Double-fisting two of her favorite sugary Starbucks drinks, Britney Spears ventured out on a coffee run in Studio City, California on Friday (September 26).

Enjoying the comfortably warm temperatures, the “Gimme More” singer sported a light yellow tank top as she was escorted out to the car by one of her handlers.

Earlier today, Britney’s brand new song “Womanizer” finally made its release, four days later than scheduled due to an unexpected leak of the tune on the Internet.

According to Reuters reports, “The song is an upbeat if slightly repetitive electropop number lasting about 3:40. It comes off Spears’ album “Circus,” which is set to be released on her 27th birthday on Dec. 2. The song was produced by The Outsyders, a group based in Atlanta.”

Lindsay Lohan: Bad Behavior?

Stepping out to tend to her daily duties, Lindsay Lohan was spotted all over the Los Angeles area on Friday (September 26).

Dressed in white, the “Mean Girls” starlet headed over to a medical center in Beverly Hills, also visiting with a friend - with the two later heading out for a little quality girl time together.

The night before, LiLo reported caused a bit of a scene as she visited her DJ mate, Samantha Ronson, while she was spinning at a BlackBerry party at Il Cielo.

“There were a bunch of girls crowding around the booth, and Lindsay pushed them and flipped the group the finger,” a partygoer told E! News. “Her bodyguard was apologizing to people, saying she just gets tired of people taking her picture.”

When asked about her client’s bad behavior, Leslie Sloane Zelnik (Lohan’s rep) offered up the standard reply, saying, “This is not true.”

Clay Aiken Came Out

"It was the first decision I made as a father," Clay Aiken told People magazine of his decision to stop dodging questions about his sexuality. The article's headline said it all: "Yes, I'm Gay." "I cannot raise a child to lie or to hide things," the singer said. "I wasn't raised that way, and I'm not going to raise a child to do that."

Appearing on the cover of this week's magazine cradling the newborn baby, Parker, who was conceived through in vitro fertilization with the singer's best friend, record producer Jaymes Foster, Aiken told the magazine that his son will be raised in an environment that he described as "accepting and allowing him to be happy."

Aiken, 29, said he has "no idea" if his son will be gay or straight, but he knows it's not something he can predict or affect. "It's not something I'll have anything to do with, or that he'll have anything to do with," Aiken told the magazine. "It's already probably up inside the code there. ... No matter what the situation you're in, if you're raised in a loving environment, that's the most important thing."

Nearly stealing Aiken's thunder after more than a year of similarly open speculation, Lindsay Lohan also came out this week and admitted what most of the world already knew — that she is in a relationship with DJ Samantha Ronson.

The news on Aiken, which came after his return to Broadway last week in the role of Sir Robin in "Monty Python's Spamalot," might surprise some of his hard-core fans, the so-called "Claymates," but he said he was prepared for that. "Whether it be having a child out of wedlock, or whether it be simply being a homosexual, it's going to be a lot," he said, adding that fans would have to deal with the news in their own way. He realizes that some may be shocked, but he hopes they stick around and "know that I've never intended to lie to anybody at all. ... But if they leave, I don't want them to leave hating me."

The People story's headline is reminiscent of the 1997 Time magazine cover story in which Ellen DeGeneres ended years of speculation with the phrase "Yep, I'm Gay." The born-again Christian singer says he told his mother, Faye, that he was gay four years ago after dropping off his younger brother Brett, who was being deployed to Iraq, at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. "I started crying in the car," Aiken said. "It was dark. I was sitting there, thinking to myself. I don't know why I started thinking about it. ... I just started bawling. She made me pull over the car and it just came out." Aiken said his mother started crying and was "obviously somewhat stunned. But she was very supportive and very comforting." She continues to struggle with it, but he said she's "come a long way."

Aiken had dodged questions about his sexuality almost from the moment he emerged on the international stage in 2003 as the runner-up on "Idol." He has often said his personal life was nobody else's business, and in 2005, when ABC's Diane Sawyer asked him about it, he called the question "really rude." OK! magazine asked openly gay former 'NSYNC member and current "Dancing With the Stars" hoofer Lance Bass — who came out in 2006 — what he thought of Aiken's news, and he told the magazine, "It's great! I'm so happy he's finally going to be happy with himself and share that with the world."

The news also elicited support from the Family Equality Council, a national nonprofit that fights for equality for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender families. "Much like Rosie O'Donnell, the announcement that Clay Aiken is gay reinforces a simple reality: The American public can no longer say it does not know a gay or lesbian parent," executive director Jennifer Chrisler wrote in a statement. "Clay Aiken's desire to raise a child in an open and honest manner will make his life, and his son's, all the better. We hope he and his son find all the happiness they deserve, and the Family Equality Council will work toward the day that Clay and Parker Foster Aiken can enjoy the same rights as other American families."

Nick Hogan To Be Released From Jail Next Month

On October 21, Nick Hogan will be a free man again, after serving five months of his eight-month sentence.

While media reports have largely reacted to the news with surprise, according to Morris "Sandy" Weinberg Jr., the lawyer representing the son of former wrestler Hulk Hogan, the release date is not a new development. He said that they've long known that his client (born Nick Bollea) would be released from Pinellas County Jail in Largo, Florida, on that date, despite the 18-year-old being sentenced in May to eight months' hard time — and five years' probation — for his role in an August 2007 car crash that left his best friend, John Graziano, critically injured and in a vegetative state.

"That's not early, that's when he would normally be released, once you figure in good time and all that," Hogan's lawyer explained. "When you calculate good time, which everybody that's there that doesn't get in trouble [is granted], they come up with a date, and we've known that date literally since the day that he went in. October 21 is the day that we expect he will be released, but that's because of good time and all that."

Hogan pleaded no contest to charges of reckless driving involving serious bodily injury after he was arrested in November. Upon his release, Hogan will serve 500 hours of community service and must also surrender his driving privileges for three years. A judge has also ordered Hogan to complete a DUI school within one year of his release from prison and prohibited the teenager from drinking alcohol of any kind.

The accident left Graziano, a former U.S. Marine, permanently brain-damaged; he sustained a broken skull in the crash. According to police, Bollea was driving his Toyota Supra at a high speed in a race against a Dodge Viper when he lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a raised median. The car reportedly flipped over, and the rear of the vehicle collided with a palm tree.

Kanye West Won't Face Felony Charges In Airport Scuffle

Kanye West will not face felony charges in connection with his scuffle with paparazzi at Los Angeles airport earlier this month, according to TMZ. The site reported that Don Crowley, West's road manager, will not face felony charges either, and said the case has been sent to the L.A. city attorney, where it hasn't been decided whether anyone will be charged with a misdemeanor.

Earlier this month, MTV News reported that West could avoid felony charges due to a quirk in California law. At the time, Crowley could have been charged with a felony because he wrestled with two paparazzi and smashed the men's expensive cameras. West destroyed one shooter's lighting rig, which was worth just $100.

Meanwhile, Crowley had his hands on the camera, which is worth more than $1,400, as well as a video camera belonging to TMZ that was reportedly valued at $7,000. California law states that someone who criminally damages property worth more than $400 can be prosecuted for felony vandalism. TMZ speculated that the charges for West could be lowered to a misdemeanor, while Crowley might still face felony counts.

After posting $20,000 bail and being released from jail, West blogged about the incident, saying, "We back in the lab!!! I'm cool with the paparazzi. This guy wasn't cool. I gotta work now." West was reportedly in Hawaii the next day working on his upcoming album, 808s and Heartbreak. The rapper has since bumped up its release date to "November something."

BREAKING NEWS: It's On! McCain Agrees to Debate

Republican presidential candidate John McCain has officially announced that he will participate in the first presidential debate, scheduled for tonight in Mississippi. Just 10 hours before the tete-a-tete was to begin, the Arizona senator buckled to growing pressures to stay on track with his campaign.

Earlier this week, McCain proposed to postpone the event so that he could head to Washington and take part in congress' plans to bail out the floundering banking system. But opponent Barack Obama held fast to the notion that the appearance of the two candidates in Washington would inject distracting presidential politics into the matter. Ultimately, Obama's stance was echoed by other leaders, including Senate majority leader Henry Reed.

Obama said Wednesday that he thought it was "important to communicate to the people where we need to go in order to pull out of this thing." The Illinois senator also noted that continuing with the debate would show Americans how each candidate responds to crisis.

Now that they're on board, the McCain camp offered a statement, saying that the candidate "is optimistic that there has been significant progress toward a bipartisan agreement now that there is a framework for all parties to be represented in negotiations."

The debate will take place at the University of Mississippi and will be broadcast by nine networks live at 9 p.m. Eastern time.

Howard, a father of three, is known to be close to his family, telling reporters earlier this year how he gives large amounts of money to his relatives.

The sexy star has already dabbled in the accessories industry - she put her name to a range of umbrellas earlier this year to coincide with her international hit of the same name.

"I can't say when it will be released, but it's definitely going to happen. I'm not one to rush into anything. I want to take my time," she tells fashion publication WWD.

Earlier this year, Rihanna hinted she was pondering a fashion line, saying, "There might be a clothing line on the horizon, maybe underwear."

Meanwhile, it sounds as if Miss Witherspoon has some painstaking days lying ahead, as she’ll be promoting her new movie “Four Christmases”, despite allegedly saying that co-star Vince Vaughn is “the biggest child I’ve ever met!”

A Witherspoon insider told OK! magazine, “Promoting a movie involves long hours, and she’ll have to spend a lot of time with someone who gets under her skin. Reese is professional — she’ll grit her teeth, fake a smile and pose for pictures — but she’s not looking forward to it.”

In related news, Longoria has spoken out about voter registration recently, telling the largely-unregistered Hispanic population to make sure they’re using their voice to make a difference.

She announced, “Go out and tell your families, go out and tell your friends, go out and tell your communities to try to get everyone registered to vote.”

To Debate or Not: Obama and McCain React to 'Economic Crisis

John McCain and Barack Obama say presidential politics should have no role in the government's efforts to save the crippled financial system. Yet, each is playing his own politics toward the same goals - showing leadership during crisis, getting credit for any solutions, and ultimately, winning the presidency.
According to the Associated Press, the latest example is: a debate over whether the candidates should debate Friday.

McCain called for his Democratic rival to agree to a postponement until Congress agrees on a $700 billion government plan to rescue banks from enormous debt. "It is difficult to act both quickly and wisely, but that is what is required of us right now. Time is short, and doing nothing is not an option," McCain told the Clinton Global Initiative in New York on Thursday.

Obama rebuffed his GOP rival on the debate proposal, saying the next president needs to "deal with more than one thing at once."

Both were heading back to Washington on Thursday, summoned by President Bush to attend a White House meeting with congressional leaders in hopes of securing the legislation to rescue the fragile economy.

The stakes were huge for both presidential contenders. The financial upheaval has become an audition of sorts as each man tries to prove to voters that he would exhibit the best judgment and leadership during a national crisis.

Portraying himself as a bipartisan leader in a time of turmoil, each is carefully navigating the potentially perilous political terrain. Both candidates are trying hard not to appear to be using the situation for political gain - even though politics certainly weighs heavily in every move each makes.

Voters - including the 18 percent an AP Yahoo News poll found - are undecided or still could change their minds - certainly are paying close attention with the election a little more than five weeks away. And the candidates' postures may tell them a lot about how each would act as president.

Polls show the race competitive, with Obama having a slight advantage in a political landscape that dramatically favors Democrats and appears to be further trending toward them in part because of the intense focus on the economy. Obama leads McCain on that issue.

Neither candidate can afford to simply support fast-tracked legislation; they could be seen as insensitive to taxpayers' concerns about the massive bailout and sweeping government intervention. But they also can't be seen as doing nothing by opposing the measure outright; many economists warn that failing to address the crisis in a meaningful way could plunge the economy into further chaos.

McCain also would certainly leave himself open to criticism that he was again siding with Bush if he supported the administration-backed legislation. However, he also could try to put his own stamp on a Republican Party going through somewhat of an identity crisis; congressional Republicans have suggested they are waiting for a signal from McCain on how to vote.

Both tried to strike a balance Wednesday.

In a brief moment of comity, the two issued a joint statement recognizing that the country was facing "a moment of economic crisis" in which "the jobs, savings and prosperity of the American people are at stake." They called the legislation flawed but also said it must not fail.

"Now is a time to come together - Democrats and Republicans - in a spirit of cooperation for the sake of the American people," they said. "This is a time to rise above politics for the good of the country."

But political maneuvering was exactly what went on during most of the day.

First, the two senators spoke privately about the possibility of issuing a joint statement.

Minutes later and before the two campaigns had hammered out their agreed-upon comment, McCain beat Obama to the punch as he sought to gain ground on the economy, stunt Obama's momentum and put himself in a position where he can claim he put his words into action - and the country ahead of his campaign.

The Republican went before TV cameras in New York to say that he had spoken to Bush and asked him to convene a leadership meeting in Washington that would include him and Obama. He said he would halt campaign events, advertising and fundraising to return to Capitol Hill to work on the crisis until an agreement on legislation was reached.

What's more, McCain called for Friday's debate to be postponed - and for Obama to curtail campaign activities as well.

Shortly thereafter, Obama held his own news conference to reject McCain's challenge.

The Democrat said he would continue with his debate preparations while consulting with bailout negotiators and Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson.

In a political calculation of his own, Obama repeatedly stressed that he called McCain first with the proposal for a joint statement in support of an economic fix. He said McCain called back several hours later and agreed to the idea of a statement but also said he wanted to postpone the debate and hold joint meetings in Washington. Obama said he suggested they first issue the statement.

Halle Berry Reads Up For “Frankie and Alice”

Taking a break from her motherly duties, Halle Berry was spotted out for a morning workout at her Brentwood gym on Wednesday (September 25).

The Academy Award-winning actress dressed casually in sweats, listening to her iPod as she toted along a few books, including one on treating multiple personal disorders.

The book, titled “Diagnosis and Treatment of Multiple Personality Disorder,” is actually being used as an aid to learn as much as possible before beginning her new movie, “Frankie and Alice”.

In the upcoming drama, Miss Berry will star as “a young woman with multiple personality disorder who struggles to remain her true self and not give in to her racist alter-personality.”

Hilary Duff: Retail Therapy on Robertson Blvd

Whenever she walks into a store, the salespeople see dollar signs. And earlier today (September 25), Hilary Duff took her penchant for purchases to Robertson Boulevard.

The “War, Inc.” actress looked cute in a baggy white tank top overtop a black bra with a pair of grey stretch pants and white Nike sneakers as she tried on a barrage of bracelets, belts, and necklaces.

Up next for Miss Duff is a new movie called “Greta,” which also stars Ellen Burstyn and Evan Ross, due out later this year.

In the movie, Hilary plays a waitress who falls in love with Ross’ character, an ambitious cook who works at the same restaurant. As their relationship grows, Greta and her grandparents both discover her boyfriend’s criminal past.

Ashley Tisdale’s Restaurant Run-In

Ready to dive into her daily duties, Ashley Tisdale was looking her usual stylish self as she was spotted leaving her Los Angeles home on Wednesday (September 25).

According to a FOX Pop Tarts report, the Disney starlet had quite the interesting evening during a recent family night out to eat in Valencia, California.

“A bunch of little girls came over and I thought they wanted an autograph, which was totally cool,” Tisdale explained of the situation, continuing to tell that one of the girl’s mothers ended up demanding that she offer up a bite of salad to her fans.

“She wasn’t joking and she wouldn’t go away when I said no,” Ashley continued to tell Pop Tarts’ Hollie McKay. “It was so odd that a grown woman would do that, especially in front of her kids. It was so wrong.

Orlando Bloom: Bringing Back the Fever

Out taking care of his business duties, Orlando Bloom paid a visit to the Ivy Club in London on Thursday afternoon (September 25).

The “Pirates of the Caribbean” hunk was reportedly there to meet over his rumored upcoming performance alongside Keira Knightley in the new version of “Saturday Night Fever,” which has been renamed “The Fever Returns”.

Following the afternoon meeting, Orlando headed out to his awaiting car - hopping in and lighting up a cigarette as he sat next to a script.

According to insider reports, the show will be pretty much the same as the original - although film producers have been said to have changed the location from Brooklyn to the streets of Hoddesdon in Hertfordshire.

Eva Longoria Says “Make Me Look Thin”

Accompanied by a few of her gal pals, Eva Longoria was spotted making a lunch stop at The Vienna Cafe in West Hollywood on Thursday afternoon (September 25).

And with all of the baby rumors and weight gain talk sweeping the Web, the “Desperate Housewives” actress jokingly told the paparazzi to make her look thin as she exited her car.

Meanwhile, Eva has also been busy befriending rising young Tampa Bay Rays baseball star Evan Longoria - as he shares a near identical name with the brunette beauty.

Press reports tell that Eva mailed off a bottle of champagne to congratulate Evan for his on-field success. And he returned the favor by giving Eva a Rays t-shirt.

Of her budding friendship, Eva said “It’s good to see that he’s doing the name proud.”

Amy Winehouse Faces Tough Times

Disproving everyone who thought she’d already hit rock bottom, Amy Winehouse was spotted earlier today looking worse than ever as she left her London home.

The troubled “Rehab” songstress has hit a new low, with unkempt hair, smudged makeup, stained shoes, and various scratches all over her legs. She is scheduled to perform at the End of Summer Ball in Berkeley Square, so hopefully she cleans herself up.

Speaking of cleaning up, a recent report tells that Miss Winehouse may owe famed designer Harvey Nichols nearly $50,000 for a bevy of dresses he lent her that she returned without cleaning.

And the worst part is that they were stained with her vomit, as she wore one of the dresses on a wild night out during which she drank until she threw up… all over the dress.

The Daily Mirror reported, “Harvey Nichols loaned Amy (almost $50,000) worth of silk and satin dresses. Unfortunately, while wearing one of the frocks, she went on an all-night bender. She ended up in the loos (British for ‘bathroom), where she was violently sick. Let’s just say it wasn’t pretty.”

“She eventually couriered them back on Monday, but didn’t wrap them separately. So sick had gone on all the clothes. Even worse, green, furry mold had developed on some gowns, making them unwearable.”

“The store publicists weren’t best pleased. They send stuff out to celebs all the time, but it never gets into such a state. I doubt Amy will be sent any more designer gear for a while and the store has now asked for its (money) back.”

Lindsay Lohan and Sam Ronson: Disneyland Divas

We’re used to seeing them frequent high-profile Hollywood events and swanky parties, but yesterday Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson were spotted indulging their collective inner-child.

The “Mean Girls” actress and her deejay girlfriend opted for an afternoon at Disneyland, thoroughly enjoying the Magic Kingdom, as well as each other’s company.

And it looks like Ronson really caught the youthful spirit of the theme park, sporting a “Nightmare Before Christmas”-inspired Mickey Mouse hat, while LiLo stuck with her red plaid flannel shirt/skinny jeans combo.

Lindsay and Sam’s continuing relationship is a definite source of frustration for Lohan’s father Michael, who recently wrote, “There is a lot more to Samantha then meets the eyes, not that what we see is too pleasing anyway! I mean, what’s with this ... ‘person’??? Look at the way she ‘dresses’? Once more, she uses her middle finger more than she uses words! Personally, I think she is dark, hideous and a disgusting representation of humanity.”

“God will weed her out of Lindsay’s life and at that time, you will finally see Lindsay back in the place where she belongs. Not doing independent films, guest starring on [a] TV show, being a guest judge on a reality TV show or making appearances at Samantha’s DJ gigs. Is this the Lindsay we all knew and loved before Samantha came into her life? No!!! When she got out of Cirque Lodge everything looked good until Samantha came on the ‘scene.”

Britney Spears Brings Back the Black Wig

In the latest installment of Britney Spears’ comeback news, the “Gimme More” songstress was spotted leaving a downtown building after a long day of shooting on what was presumably a video set.

On her way to a waiting SUV, Brit was heavily shielded from the paparazzi by a bevy of bodyguards in an effort to keep her activities on the down-low.

And according to a recent report, the “Piece of Me” diva may be heading across the pond to perform on the UK hit show X Factor.

Simon Cowell told press, “I think Britney Spears is going to perform. We didn’t get her. She’s got a record coming out. We have the number one show in England. It’s the best show for her to perform on.”

He continued, “We’re absolutely thrilled to have her. She’s a hugely talented person… She’s the number one booking in the world at the moment for a show.”
