BET Hip-Hop Awards '08 Rundown: Lil' Wayne Wins 'MVP' and Announces Baby Son

Lil' Wayne was a big winner at Saturday's BET Hip Hop Awards, taking home Lyricist of the Year and MVP of the Year at the ceremony held in Atlanta.

The artist, nominated for 12 awards, was also named Alltel Wireless People's Champ at the ceremony, which was hosted by T-Pain after scheduled emcee Katt Williams was a no-show, reports the Associated Press. While accepting his MVP Award, Wayne revealed that he's expecting a son.

"I got a son about to be born any day now, so shout-out to him. Pray for me," he told the crowd.

LL Cool J presented Russell Simmons with the "I Am Hip-Hop" Icon award, given to an individual who has made notable contributions of outstanding significance to the hip-hop community.

A hip-hop matriarch medley featured MC Lyte, Yo-Yo and Salt-N-Pepa, while Young Jeezy, Soulja Boy and Bow Wow performed together to represent their home base of Atlanta.

T.I. was present and accounted for this year. The Atlanta rapper was scheduled to headline last year's ceremony, but was arrested hours before the event on federal weapons charges after he was caught trying to purchase semi-automatic guns and silencers. T.I. pleaded guilty earlier this year and is scheduled to be sentenced in March.

Rocking black-rimmed glasses, N.E.R.D. and Common impressed the crowd with "Numbers," "Universal Mind Control" and "Spazz." T-Pain took a break from his hosting duties to perform "Can't Believe It" with Lil Wayne and "Chopped and Skrewed" with Ludacris. Surprise performer Ice Cube had the audience on its feet for "Why Me" and the classic "It Was a Good Day."

DJ Khaled, Young Jeezy, Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, Big Boi, Lil Wayne, Fat Joe, Birdman and Rick Ross took home the award for Best Hip-Hop Collaboration for "I'm So Hood (The Remix)." Shawty Lo was named MySpace Music Rookie of the Year.

She’s been keeping the English paparazzi working overtime as of late, and last night Paris Hilton was spotted out to dinner in London.

The “Simple Life” hottie looked stunning as she left Mr. Chow sporting an 80s-inspired electric blue dress with a black belt and matching black heels.

And it sounds like Miss Hilton’s time in the UK may land her a role in a killer new film - during a night out at Guy Ritchie’s London pub, he reportedly offered her a role in “Sherlock Holmes.”

Paris told press, “I had a few words with Guy. He could be offering me a role in his new ‘Sherlock Holmes’ movie.”

Ashley Tisdale and Jared Murillo: Macy’s Moment

Following an evening out in celebration of Zac Efron’s 21sty birthday, Disney co-star couple Ashley Tisdale and Jared Murillo were spotted out shopping in Los Angeles on Sunday (October 19).

Showing off her recently-dyed brunette locks, the 23-year-old Sharpay Evans actress and her “High School Musical” beau checked out the offerings at the Macy’s Department store.

Meanwhile, Ashley recently spoke with the Daily Mail about her friendship with HSM co-star Vanessa Hudgens, saying, “With fame and success you do lose friends because of jealousy and competitiveness. It’s different with Vanessa and me.”

“Nobody else can understand what we’ve been through in the past couple of years. I can go to Vanessa for absolutely anything and I can always trust her. We both grew up in musical theatre, both have recorded our own solo albums and both love performing - yet there’s no competition between us,” Tizzie tells.

Talking about the relationship between Vanessa and her vo-star boyfriend Zac Efron, Ashley adds, “Vanessa and Zac are a great couple. We’re all like brothers and sisters on the set so there’s no jealousy about their romance. It’s very sweet to see them so romantic and none of us minds seeing them like this together. They are as much in love off screen as they are in HSM. There’s such a great chemistry that it is like a fairytale.”
