
Proving to be the big hit of the weekend, "The Karate Kid" winded up claiming the top slot in the box office in dominating fashion.
After pulling in $18 million on Friday, the Jaden Smith/Jackie Chan starring action film remake is estimated to have garnered $56 million in all over its opening three days in theaters.
Coming in second place was "The A-Team," which made a little bit less than anticipated with $27 million in ticket sales.
Rounding out the weekend's top grossing flicks were "Shrek Forever After" at $16 million and Russell Brand's "Get Him to the Greek" with $10 million in its second week.
