Kanye West Stars in Pilot for Comedy Central

Superstar producer/rapper Kanye West is expanding his talent beyond music videos and taking it to the screen, along with fellow rapper Rhymefest. The Hip-Hop duo have teamed with Jackhole Productions and Comedy Central to create a half-hour, urban-based puppet show titled Alligator Boots.

According to New York’s Daily News, television executive Doug Herzog, known for helping bring South Park, The Daily Show, and The Colbert Report to the network, hinted at what West’s latest venture would offer. "We’re working on a pilot with Kanye," he told the Daily News. "It’s going to be a black version of ‘The Muppets.’"

In addition to West and Rhymefest working behind the scenes as executive producers, the two would also reportedly produce and perform music throughout the series, which could be on the air as early as 2009. Future episodes will be hosted by a different celebrity guest.

Jackhole Productions, which is owned by Jimmy Kimmel, Adam Carolla and Daniel Kellison, has a number of hit television shows on the air.

In addition to producing Comedy Central’s hit series Crank Yankers, which featured puppets voiced by celebrities making prank phone calls, Jackhole Productions also produces Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Man Show and The Andy Milonakis Show.
